Foggy, Yellow, Cloudy?

That haze is UV oxidation, and it cuts your night vision

Modern headlights are polycarbonate, not glass. Sun, salt air, and road grime burn a cloudy, yellow layer into the surface over time. It scatters your light output, so the road goes dim at night and the front of the car looks a decade older than it is. Restoration removes that layer and seals the lens, instead of hiding it behind a spray that wipes off.

  • Foggy and cloudy headlights brought back to clear
  • Yellowed and oxidized lenses sanded and polished out
  • Brighter, safer light output for night driving
  • UV seal so the clarity holds for years, not weeks

Our Process

How professional headlight restoration works

Four steps, about 30 minutes for both headlights on a standard car. The last step is the one that matters most, and it's the one DIY kits skip.

Step 1

Inspect & mask

We check whether the haze is surface oxidation or moisture inside the housing, then mask the paint and trim around each lens so only the headlight gets worked.

Step 2

Wet-sand the oxidation

Progressive wet-sanding lifts the yellowed, UV-burned top layer off the polycarbonate. This is the step toothpaste and sprays can't do.

Step 3

Polish to clear

Machine polish brings the lens back to optical clarity, so light actually projects again instead of scattering through the fog.

Step 4

Seal against UV

A UV-protective sealant locks the clarity in. This is why our restoration holds for years while a drugstore kit fogs back up in weeks.

Cost

How much does headlight restoration cost?

Headlight restoration is $100 added to any detail, and it covers both lenses through the full sand, polish, and UV-seal process. Want it on its own? Text us for a quick flat quote. Listed up front, never padded after.

Restore vs. Replace

Cheaper to restore than to replace

A single replacement headlight assembly often runs $200 to $1,000-plus per side once you add parts and labor. Restoring both lenses is $100. Replacement only wins when the lens is cracked or the housing has failed, and we'll tell you straight if that's what you're looking at instead of selling you a job that won't hold.

FAQ

Headlight restoration on the South Bay coast: your questions answered

What is the best method to restore headlights?+

Wet-sanding the oxidized layer off the lens, polishing it clear, then locking it in with a UV sealant. That's the method that actually lasts. Toothpaste, bug spray, and most $15 kits skip the seal, so the fog comes back in weeks. Daji's headlight restoration runs the full sand, polish, and UV-seal process in your driveway.

Does WD-40 really restore headlights?+

No. WD-40 leaves an oily film that makes a foggy lens look clear for a day or two, then it wipes off and the haze is right back. It does nothing to the oxidized layer underneath. Real restoration removes that layer and seals the lens so the clarity holds.

How do you fix cloudy headlights permanently?+

Nothing on a plastic lens is truly permanent, because UV is always working on it, but a proper restoration with a UV sealant holds clear for one to three years instead of a few weeks. The seal is the difference. Skip it and you're back to cloudy by next season.

How much does headlight restoration cost?+

Headlight restoration is $100 added to any detail, and it covers both headlights through the full sand, polish, and UV-seal process. Booking it on its own in the South Bay? Text us and we'll give you a quick flat quote, no surprises after.

How long does professional headlight restoration last versus a kit?+

A drugstore kit usually fogs back up within a few weeks to a couple months because it doesn't seal the lens against UV. A professional restoration with a UV-protective seal typically holds one to three years. You pay once instead of redoing it every season.

Can you restore my headlights at my home or office?+

Yes, that's the whole point of mobile. The truck carries its own water and power, so we restore your headlights right in your driveway or office lot anywhere across South Bay, Los Angeles. You don't drop the car anywhere or wait in a lobby.

Is it cheaper to restore foggy headlights or replace them?+

Restore, almost every time. A single replacement headlight assembly often runs $200 to $1,000-plus per side with parts and labor, while restoring both lenses is $100. Replacement only makes sense when the lens is cracked or the housing has failed, and we'll tell you straight if that's your case.

Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, Rancho Palos Verdes, Lomita, San Pedro, Long Beach, Del Aire, Lawndale, Hawthorne, Signal Hill, Rolling Hills, Palos Verdes Estates, and Harbor City. Just outside that line? Text us, we make exceptions for repeat clients.
